Mobile games are getting even bigger, and nobody knows that better than Gameloft – a French development studio that gave us gems like Modern Combat, The Amazing Spiderman, & The Dark Knight Rises. Given their popularity, the ways to do video coverage for them seems to be a bit lacking compared to its PC & Console counterparts. Well now that’s about to change with the new Twitch Mobile SDK and the first app that comes with it – Asphalt 8: Airborne. Now you can stream video direct from your mobile device without the need for external equipment. This should make game streaming of popular mobile games even more painless than non-mobile competition. Given the popularity of Twitch streaming these days, we’re definitely expecting a lot of people will take advantage of this.
The new streaming feature will be coming to the iOS version of Asphalt 8 when the next large update rolls out. Streaming features will be baked into the app and will include options like video quality, mic commentary, and even front camera support so you can include your face in the stream. Really neat stuff – we wish a lot of games had these. (Heck we even tried streaming Asphalt 8 before on a capture rig, but our bandwidth wasn’t able to keep up.) Finally, the update will also include new maps, new cars, new events, and supposedly an improved Main Menu.
All these sounds great and all, but as Android users we’re kind of getting shafted here. Hopefully they port out these new features to the Google camp soon. Anyway, grab the game on iOS here or Android here.
