We’ve definitely seen a huge rise in smartphone related crimes these days – an unfortunate fact since some phones can sell for a semester’s tuition these days. Solutions to this problem have been sketchy, and none can really guarantee your phone won’t be stolen at all. Well, the new Cherry Mobile P1 Mini hopes to change all that. While it also functions as a phone itself, it also lets you text, call, open phonebook, and play media on your smartphone without needing to pull it out of your pocket – effectively giving you a device that is affordable (PHP 799) and can take the place of your smartphone in dire situations. Cherry Mobile P1 Mini – PHP 799

 

Pros:

  • Great decoy for thieves & robbers
  • Very affordable basic phone + Bluetooth dialer
  • Supports calling, texting, music, & phonebook
  • Can work as a standalone phone

Cons:

  • No 3.5mm headset jack
  • FM radio doesn’t work*
  • Very few phones compatible for texting (MAP)

 

Cherry Mobile have definitely given us a very awesome accessory in the P1 Mini. It’s a perfect little sub-phone for people who often take public transportation or find themselves in environments where they don’t want to call attention to an expensive smartphone (or maybe you own a 7” tablet phone). And even if you don’t need something like that, its still much easier to text (for most) to use a real keypad to send texts. While devices that work with the Bluetooth Texting feature are limited, its really rewarding when it does work. Plus, you get a free single SIM phone as a bonus!
