Cherry Mobile Flare HD Review–Quad-Core With HD Display & 12MP Camera For PHP 5.5k

Back in December, we were surprised by Cherry Mobile at their annual dealers’ night with a stealth release – the Cherry Mobile Flare HD. Basing from the moniker, you’ve probably already figured it’ll have a 1280×720 display. And indeed, with a Quad-Core processor and 1GB of RAM, even the 12MP camera seemed like a bonus. What we didn’t know though, was the price. We garnered it would be fairly low, given that Flare devices are designed to be affordable. And lo and behold, it was. Selling now for the low price of PHP 5,499, the Flare HD seems like a great bargain – and we think so too. Check out our review of the Cherry Mobile Flare HD below.

Cherry Mobile Flare HD – PHP 5,499

  • 1.2Ghz Quad-Core MT6589 Processor
  • 4.3” 1280×720 IPS Display
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 12MP Camera + Flash, 5MP Front
  • 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM, MicroSD
  • 1,800mAh Battery
  • Dual Regular SIM With 3G
  • Comes with free Jelly Case

  • Quad-core performance, HD IPS Display
  • Decent battery life
  • Very affordable
  • Above average camera

  • Slight squeaks on the case
  • Silicon case prevent button use
  • Unexciting design

The Cherry Mobile Flare HD is an amazing bargain buy for what we still consider as flagship-level specs. While the design may not be inspiring, it goes a long way into solidifying the Flare brand as the phone of choice for budget conscious consumers. Given the gorgeous display we wouldn’t feel ashamed of comparing this to higher-priced competition. While at the same time, this could easily pass off as a budget phone during commutes – possibly keeping us safe from any of the shadier elements in this country. (Given the price though, if we did lose it we wouldn’t be out of a great deal of money. Hopefully it doesn’t happen anyhow.) And while some of Cherry Mobile’s budget phones have certainly hit the specs we’d like, the 12MP camera and HD display definitely gives the Flare HD its edge, and will go down as one of our budget favorites this year.
