Recently Nokia Philippines held a major launch party for its Lumia phones at Bonifacio High Street Central’s Amphitheatre. The night was held, of course, to commemorate in grand fashion the arrival of the new Windows Phone devices from the Finnish mobile phone giant. To date, all versions of the colorfully designed phones are now out in the Philippines – with some available (or exclusive) to carriers like the Lumia 710 and 800. With a wide range of price points, eye catching designs, and a mobile OS geared for keeping in touch, Nokia is looking to entice fans to this new lineup of revolutionary smartphone devices.
The Nokia Lumia 610
Their most affordable device right now is the Lumia 610 – a Windows Phone Tango-powered device. Priced at only PHP 10,980, it promises to deliver just the right amount of features to the budget-conscious crowd. Packing an 800Mhz processor, 3.7” 800×480 screen, 5MP Camera with LED Flash (VGA video, no front), and the usual host of connectivity features, the Lumia 610 should turn out to be quite popular with the entry-level or younger crowd that it is aiming for. (Not to say that adults can’t enjoy a 610 for themselves though.)
The Nokia Lumia 710 and 800
The two midrange Lumia offerings include the 710 and 800 – both of which we’ve featured before. In fact, we’ve also unboxed a Lumia 800 already, so go ahead and jump on over our unboxing to check that out. Both devices feature a 1.4Ghz processor, 3.7” 800×480 screen (AMOLED on 800), 5MP Camera with LED Flash (8MP on 800), 720p video recording (no front), and the usual connectivity options. The Lumia 710 is currently exclusive to Smart Data Plan 1000, while the Lumia 800 is available unlocked for PHP 23,500 or free thru Globe Plan 1,799.
The Nokia Lumia 900
The last, and newest member of the family is the Lumia 900. It is, for the most part, a souped up version of the 800 that came before it. Built in a similar body to the 800 but in a larger form, it now packs a 4.3” 800×480 AMOLED screen and a 1MP Front facing camera. The rest of the specs, including the 1.4Ghz processor, 8MP Camera + Flash, and 720p video are also present. The Lumia 900 is available unlocked from Nokia for a price (that was recently just announced) of PHP 27,990. This should attract users who previously didn’t avail of the 800 for either a need of a larger screen size or the front facing camera for video calling.
All of the phones mentioned above are now available either through Nokia stores or from Smart and/or Globe. They are also all using the newer MicroSIM technology as well as having built in Flash storage (as they do not have MicroSD card slots). With this, the Philippines has finally become fully equipped to start its journey in becoming a #NokiaLumiaNation. (That was the hashtag used for the event, if you haven’t guessed it by now.)
Additionally, if you buy a Lumia phone up until June 15 this year, you can have the chance to win unlimited Philippine Airline flights. Just send a text with “I CAN LUMIA <IMEI of Lumia>/<Full Name>/<Address> to 2960 (Globe & Smart) and you’ll be part of the drawing. 100 lucky owners of their new Nokia devices will win unlimited roundtrip PAL flights to destinations such as Legaspi, Kalibo, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Davao and Puerto Princesa for an entire year. (July 1, 2012 to July 1, 2013). So if you’re still on the fence about picking up a new Lumia phone, grab one now before the 15th of June so you can be eligible for the drawing. (Hey, might as well join right?)
