Right now, with about 2-3 hours to go, we’re counting down to the countdown (redundant!) parties of the iPhone 4S launch from both big name telcos here in the Philippines. On one side of the camp, Globe, the original iPhone exclusive bearer in the Philippines, will be having a party later at Ayala. While the newcomer to the iPhone business, Smart, has signed up a mall at the Rockwell area for its festivities. Both companies are doing their best to get the attention of old and new Apple consumers in and around the internets – particularly on the Twitterverse like you see on these screenshots here. While we’d love to check out both parties at once, we’ve only gotten an invite from Globe. Apparently Smart doesn’t think we’re cool enough for their party.
We’ve been to quite a few Smart events already so this move is definitely unusual for them. We don’t really know what’s going on, but whichever the case may be – its not our fault if we’ll provide coverage for Globe instead of Smart.
Either way, that’s not supposed to affect you: our readers. What you’ll need to know is that the iPhone 4S countdowns are happening this evening and should be available for people who signed up at their pages – which we featured here. The device should then be rolling out soon after for more consumers. We’ll have more details about the pricing, launch, and other information when we have it. Which, we might add, will come from Globe since we’re not privy to the event from Smart. Hey, its their loss.
