Last Halloween break, WideOut, a development and rich media provider, introduced their services to the Philippine (or international?) market with an appropriately themed costume party. The event, entitled The WideOut Halloween Reanimation Beer Bash, would show their talents in Android app development and dedication to providing professional services to the public – and what better way to achieve this than by using apps they’ve developed to announce, run, and promote the event? They showed us apps that helped run and promote the venue itself – giving us a good idea on what the WideOut crew can do.
The main ingredient was the availability of an app, downloadable from the Android Market, that would let people RSVP to the event, get a real time countdown, check out a map to the venue, get live updates (through a tweet hash) of the event, notifications for the contest with raffle winners, and perhaps most importantly will let you check on the amount of remaining free beer left at the event. These were tracked by another app that scanned participants’ barcodes when they would pick up a beer. Finally, since this was a Halloween event, partygoers came in costume to enjoy the festivities.
